- Artist Statement -
Nikolas Bùi Rồng (he/him) is an emerging socially engaged, new-media artist. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Art & Social Action at NCAD. The overarching aim of his practice is to counter-archive gender transcendence.
His practice is heavily research-driven with a particular interest in glitch & counter-archival approaches.
His artistic approach is multidisciplinary, experimenting with 2D/3D animation, gamification, sound, video, 3D printing, installation as well as augmented & virtual reality.
He has exhibited at the BETA Festival (2024) in the NCAD Gallery. He was an exhibiting artist at the 2023 RDS Visual Art Awards in the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) & returned in 2025 for ‘Living Canvas at IMMA’ where his work was shown on Europe’s largest digital art screen. He was awarded the UCD Art Collection Award for Transcendent Archives.
